Senior Account Manager - Preston

Due to continued growth, we are recruiting for a commercial thinking Senior Account Manager with a solid understanding of Freight Forwarding to join a successful logistics business located in Preston. Working closely with the Managing Director you will be responsible for managing a small team of Freight Forwarders, winning new business from existing and new customers whilst delivering results in line with the business strategy. The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of the freight and transport industry with pre-established relationships and experience in managing a small team of people in a fast-paced environment. In return, you will receive a generous salary of Circa £45,000, company pension scheme, death in service, 28 days holiday including bank holidays, ongoing training and development and the chance to work for a growing, forward thinking and dynamic business.

As the Senior Account Manager, you will be:

• Responsible for driving new customer accounts and offering logistics solutions as and when required.

• Responsible for supporting and coaching team members of the freight department.

• Ensuring the highest levels of customer service as you manage freight movements

•Handle any sales or operational issues requested by the network.

•Maintain and develop customer relationships.

• Pricing, quoting, negotiating and organising freight movements with a vast contact base of sub-contractors.

• Ensuring solid cost control through the arrangement of transport solutions at the low rate, without compromising upon quality

• Timely completing and responding to all customer queries surrounding transport solutions.

• Selecting shipment routes, based on nature of goods, transit times, or security needs.

• Completing shipping documentation, such as bills of lading, packing lists, dock receipts, certificates of origin and customs clearance (via agents)

• Consolidating loads with a common destination to reduce costs to individual shippers

• Maintaining current knowledge of relevant legislation, political situations, or other factors that could affect freight shipping

As the Senior Account Manager, you will have:

• Senior Freight forwarding experience of at least 3 years

• A commercially focused mind

• Good leadership / people skills

• Excellent knowledge of the freight and transport industry

• Established relationship with hauliers and trade lanes.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to think on your feet
